Ingredients:

  • 4 large flour tortillas
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar, Monterey Jack, or a blend)
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion (optional)
  • 1/2 cup chopped bell peppers (optional)
  • 1/2 cup sliced jalapeños (optional)
  • 1/2 cup cooked and shredded chicken or beef (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon butter or oil

Instructions:

  1. Prep Ingredients:
    • Gather and prepare all your ingredients. Shred the cheese, chop the vegetables, and cook any meat if using.
  2. Heat the Pan:
    • Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat. Add a small amount of butter or oil to the pan.
  3. Assemble Quesadilla:
    • Place one tortilla on the skillet. Sprinkle an even layer of cheese over the tortilla. Add any optional ingredients (onions, bell peppers, jalapeños, meat) over the cheese. Top with another layer of cheese and place a second tortilla on top.
  4. Cook:
    • Cook for 2-3 minutes or until the bottom tortilla is golden brown and the cheese begins to melt. Carefully flip the quesadilla using a spatula and cook the other side for another 2-3 minutes until it is golden brown and the cheese is fully melted.
  5. Serve:
    • Remove the quesadilla from the pan and let it cool for a minute. Cut into wedges and serve with your favorite toppings like sour cream, salsa, or guacamole.

  • Use a non-stick skillet for easier flipping and to prevent sticking.
  • You can make a variety of quesadillas by experimenting with different cheeses and fillings.
  • Serve immediately for the best texture and flavor.
